In the Event of an Emergency

1. We will contact you. When an emergency event has been declared by the Governor, and the need for prophylaxis is determined, Columbus Public Health/Franklin County Public Health will notify the agency's emergency contact person listed in the Critical Infrastructure Database. Columbus Public Health/Franklin County Public Health will provide the emergency contact with the following information:

    A. When the agency should pick up the medication.
    B. Where the agency should pick up medication.
    C. How many days worth of medication the agency will be given.
    D. What data collection is required.

2. The Emergency Contact must notify appropriate personnel. It is the responsibility of the emergency contact person to notify:

    A. The personnel designated to pick up the medication; ensure that proper transportation is available and is ready for deployment.
         The agency will be given ONE pick up time, no additional pick ups will be allowed.
    B. The personnel designated to print off the dispensing roster. See Attachment A2 Printing Instructions. Inform the personnel how
         many days worth of medication the agency will be given. Preparation of all required paperwork to dispense the needed
         medications must begin immediately.
    C. The personnel designated to oversee and set up the dispensing area for medication distribution.

3. Pick up medication. Arrive promptly at your agency’s designated pick up time. The location of pick up will be disclosed at the time of the event.
    At least one pre-authorized agency representative must be present at the time of pick up. Photo identification is required.
    We strongly encourage that the vehicles are locked and that security travels with the vehicle(s). The security of medication transportation is solely  
    the responsibility of the organization.

4. Dispense medication to all employees within 36 hours. Follow your agency’s dispensing plan.
